About theSingle.com and the Information We Collect

TheSingle.com is an online meeting place for singles and other users. Users can publish and reply to personal ads, and interact with other users in various ways. Though users can browse the site as visitors without registration, theSingle.com is mainly a membership based service and the full content is only available to members. They will have to fill out a registration form, provide information about themselves (name, address, email address etc.). This information is used to identify users for internal and technical reasons. None of the information we gather can be used by the public (visitors, other members, and anyone not affiliated by theSingle.com) to identify a specific individual. We collect information only from those who choose to join. We will not sell, share, or rent this information to others in ways different from what is disclosed in this statement.

theSingle.com Affiliate Partners: To provide our users with the best service, theSingle.com have teamed up with Affiliate Partners through various Affiliate agencies as a vehicle for providing e-commerce. For instance, certain information and personal information you may give is required for shipping purposes or communication purposes between you and our affiliate partner. Please read their Privacy Statements on their website. No personal member information is exchanged with the Affiliate partner.

Information Collected/Tracked by theSingle.com

theSingle.com gathers two types of information:information that users submit to us and information not directly submitted by users.

Information submitted to theSingle.com

There are two types of information we collect that users submit: private and public. We define private information to be any information that allows others to contact a user other than through theSingle.com or allows the collection of information about the user other than what is displayed on the site. Public information is personal information that may be displayed on the site, such as content of published personal ads which cannot be linked to a particular user.

PRIVATE
This information is gathered from members. This information includes, but is not limited to, email address, first name, last name, address, sex and the answer to 5 different help questions (date of birth, favorite band/orchestra or musician/composer, 4 last digits of credit card or social security number, mother‘s maiden name).

PUBLIC
The amount of public information the member wants to give is up to the member, though we ask you to do so in sole discretion. The member displays information in a personal ad which is written und then published on the site. This information is meant to be seen by members and visitors to the site but cannot be used to identify a specific member by name, address, etc.

Information that users do not submit to us

AGGREGATE
This is information we collect that is not personally identifiable, such as browser type and IP address. This information is gathered for all visitors to the site.

What this site does with the information it gathers/tracks

Information submitted to theSingle.com

PRIVATE
Email addresses submitted by members are used for notification of other members concerning a communication between members (One2One) or for notification published ads have been replied. Members who wish not to receive any form of email notification may do so by going to www.theSingle.com, logging in as a member, and clicking on „My Preference" link. We may use a user's email address to send news regarding our site. The user may choose not to receive email of this type by sending us an email at unsubscribe@thesingle.com. Make sure to send your email from the email address you registered with and type the following in the subject field of the email: REMOVE FROM SINGLE-LIST. Email addresses may also be used in private correspondence with the user for customer service issues. All other private information submitted by the user is confidential and will not be disclosed except as required by law or to protect members of theSingle.com.

theSingle.com‘s Affiliate Partners: Information submitted by the Affiliate Partner is used for establishing and maintaining a business relationship. No personal or business information is shared outside the relationship between theSingle.com and the Affliate Partner. Affliate Partners may not view or access private information on members or users of our site.

PUBLIC
Public information supplied by the user is intended to be viewed by members and guests to the site. This information is used by members for searching and entertainment purposes.

We use your server, IP address, and browser-type related information in the general administration of our website.

Sharing of the Information Obtained by theSingle.com

We do not sell, rent, share, trade or give away any of your private information without your permission.

Links

Our site contains links to other websites. Please be aware that once you click on one of these links, you are moving to another website and our privacy policy no longer applies. Such links would be from an advertiser, sponsor, partner or affiliates. TheSingle.com cannot be responsible for the privacy policies of all the Web sites to which it is linked, or links from those other Web sites to which a user may be further directed.

Use of Cookies

We currently use temporary cookies, „session cookies", throughout the member area for identification purposes. A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user’s hard drive containing information about the user. Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information while on our site. Once the user closes their browser, or the login expires due to inactivity after 20 minutes, the cookie simply terminates. For instance, by setting a cookie on our site, the user would not have to log in a password more than once, thereby saving time while on our site. If a user rejects the cookie, they may still use our site. The drawback to this is that the user will not be able to access the member area, receive a mailbox or post ads.

Please note that advertisers on theSingle.com site may send cookies to users of the site and theSingle.com does not control or have access to this information.

It is a good practice to refrain from disclosing your email address or any other information in your personal ads, chat rooms, public forms or any other place unless it's properly protected. Information disclosed may be used by other persons for many purposes, including spamming.
